Permanent residency opportunities in Australia through skilled migration
Are you deciphering your future under the current COVID-19 havoc? Australia could very well be the next destination in your global pursuit for a safe and fantastic place to live and work.
The Australian Government has just announced the 2020-2021 occupation list for prospective migrants applying for permanent residency this year. Prior to viewing that list however, you may like to cross-check the seven industry sectors below to see if you might be eligible to be considered under a special global talent scheme.
Note also that while the below sectors are being prioritised for visa processing purpose, applicants who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in their profession, a sport, the arts, in an academic and research area may also be considered for the Distinguished Talent permanent visas. Successful applicants have included actors, cocktail mixologists, elite athletes, marketing strategists and notable musicians.
AgTech
Space and Advanced Manufacturing
FinTech
Energy and Mining Technology
MedTech
Cyber Security
Quantum Information, Advanced Digital, Data Science and ICT
If you are a recent PhD or masters graduates in these target sectors, or have been earning Australian dollars $153,600 annually working in these fields, you might have a very good chance for permanent residency. Note that for those under 18 years old or aged over 55 years, things may get a lot more complicated, so you don’t want to wait too long to start applying as policy can change over time.
If your experience does not fall within the above areas, you can check if your occupation is listed under Building and Construction, Engineering, Education, Medical and Trades (such as Electricians, Carpenters and Joiners, Metal Fitters and Machinists, etc., see below).
Construction Managers
Management consultant
Civil Engineering Professionals
Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers

General Practitioners and Resident Medical officers

Note that the age limit for this scheme is 45, so if you are just 12 months away, your chances of success would be drastically reduced.
